The Child Accident Prevention Trust has issued figures which reveal that pedestrian injury is the leading cause of death of children in Great Britain.
In 2007, the number of injuries to children in England and Wales were as follows:
Slight injuries: 6,933
Serious injuries: 1,662
Fatal injuries: 53
Total: 8,648
Of course, children are at risk of an accident wherever they venture but statistics show that most accidents involving child pedestrians are close to the child’s home. Whilst schools and parents take time to educate children in relation to road safety, accidents are at times unavoidable.
If your child has been injured as a pedestrian you may be able to pursue a claim for compensation on their behalf. Even if you are uncertain if there is a case to make a claim it is worth taking advice from a specialist solicitor.
The skilled personal injury lawyers at Macks Solicitors will be happy to advise you and give you the assistance you need should you wish to make a claim. We can help recover compensation for your child’s injuries and also for any financial losses, such as needing to take time off work to care for your injured child and travelling expenses to and from treatment.
